Jasmina Salman is the assistant Director of the Lois Laxton Dance Studio. "Miss D", as she is fondly known, commenced her formal training at LLDS and continues to delight and amaze our students with 27 years of teaching expertise in all dance disciplines.
Miss D is the director of the LLDS Competitive Dancers, where her innovative choreography has garnered top awards and recognition at every level of competition in both Canada and the United States - as demonstrated by the shelves of trophies honoring her grateful students' achievements. As a result, Miss D is a coveted and sought after guest choreographer at numerous dance studios throughout Southern Ontario, where her infectious energy and creative abilities are in full demand.
In addition, Jasmina is a full member of the Performing Arts Educators of Canada (PAEC) where she acts as Jazz and Tap Examiner, taking time from her busy schedule to travel through Ontario and Canada and instruct teachers and examine students in the PAEC dance syllabus. When not leading our Competitive Dancers, Miss D is invariably invited by leading dance competitions each year to act as an adjudicator, where her fine eye and experience is brought to judge and evaluate the efforts of her peers.
Jasmina has also held the position of Director of Dance for the St. Thomas Aquinas Centre for the Arts, and has continued as artist in the classroom for the Hamilton Catholic School Board. Not content to rest upon her laurels, she actively pursues advanced dance and instructional studies throughout Canada and the United States.
Miss D's flair and passion for the performing arts is abundantly evident in her classroom teaching, choreography and costume design, and she represents and embodies the finest traditions and dreams of our studio and our students.
