Amanda DeFreitas graduated from Etobicoke School of the Arts where she majored in musical theatre. She was plucked out of high school and placed into the Stratford Festival's performing company in the cast of West Side Story and The Tempest.
From there, she went on to a nine year career in the musical theatre and film/T.V. industries. Between performing in Disney's the Lion King, and Hairspray she made time to organize several volunteer opportunities for cast members, teach master classes and attend fashion design school. Delving further into the art of teaching, Amanda studied for three years at Canada's National Ballet School (Teacher Training Program). Today, Amanda can be found at Lois Laxton's Dance Studio (her childhood dance school) where she teaches dance and directs the Performing Arts division and Broadway Performing arts summer camps.
A few of her current full memberships include: Canadian Actors' Equity Association, ACTRA, The Royal Academy of Dance, and Performing Arts Educators of Canada. Anyone who knows Amanda, knows that she lives for the moment and for the love of the performing arts. Her burgeoning entertainment company LIVE in LIFE Productions is an extension of what she loves, believes in, and will continue to share with the world.
